Position Summary:

Directs the companies’ Payroll function to ensure timely preparation and accurate cost distribution of salaries, overhead, and related benefits in compliance with appropriate federal and state withholding regulations and in accordance with the institution's internal controls. Plans and coordinates all activities related to the management of Payroll in an effective and efficient manner


  • Ensures that payroll actions are in conformance with employment practices and enforces the integrity of accounting procedures in the maintenance of Payroll records.
  • Ensures timely and accurate preparation of the companies’ payroll operations.
  • Handles federal and state agency audits and maintains close contact with regulatory agencies to ensure the companies’ payroll department is abreast of regulatory changes in compliance with relevant tax laws.
  • Oversees preparation of all federal and state payroll tax reports, including quarterly and year-end returns.
  • Standardizes procedures to ensure best payroll practices and processes include implementation of appropriate business rules.
  • Manages garnishments, levies, and payroll deductions reported on W-2 and 1099 forms.
  • Provides information and assistance to Accounting for external and/or internal auditors.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports and analysis of payroll historical and future trends for their distribution to management to help guide business decisions for the company.
  • Ensures accurate processing of invoices and timely payment to contractors.
  • Maintains accurate records for 1099 vendors throughout the year according to IRS regulations and timetables.


  • Must possess HS diploma.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a directly related field is a plus
  • Five years of payroll and time-and-attendance experience required.
  • Payroll and time-and-attendance experience with large or complex payroll systems is a plus.
  • Experience with ADP is preferred.
  • Demonstrates exercise of independent judgment.
  • Possesses strong attention to detail
