The General Manger leads a team of exempt and non-exempt teammates and influences the entire facility operations team to do the fast-paced work required to run a reverse logistics facility (including return to vendor, liquidation, fulfillment, testing, and repair) center as efficiently, safely and productively as possible. This role will handle management responsibilities for the team members under his/her supervision and is responsible for ensuring prompt, efficient and accurate handling of returns merchandise as well as developing and implementing team goals. This role is responsible for hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly teammates. The General Manager is responsible for managing a facility operations center consisting of 200+ or more teammates and be held accountable for all aspects of an automated reverse logistics facility operation focusing on product disposition in a return to vendor & liquidation environment.

The General Manager is responsible for subordinate’s performance and execution of all operations functions at the facility, including: (1) Develop and execute daily and weekly operational plans; (2) Meet or exceed customer service level expectations while achieving maximum operating efficiency (3) Maximize quality, throughput, and productivity of the facility; (4) Manage a diverse teammate population; (5) Nurture a positive teammate relations, focused, safe and productive work environment; (6) Ensure all corporate policies and procedures are adhered to and short and long term plans are implemented.

Job Responsibilities include but limited to:

  • Communicate all operational goals, objectives and goTRG Standard Operations Procedures
  • Develop, implement and direct; equipment preventative maintenance programs, and facility building/grounds maintenance programs
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are implemented and observed to ensure compliance, and that equipment and work areas are neat, clean and well organized
  • Oversee, implement, and maintain compliance with company and OSHA guidelines to create and maintain a safe working environment for all teammates
  • Ensure facility will meet needs of multiple individual projects and coordinate for technological needs
  • Manage space utilization/layout and maximizing usage/making recommendations
  • On-going management of facility fiscal performance, preparation and control; Budgets, Profit and Loss (P& L) and General Ledger
  • Direct, train, coach, mentor and develop staff to achieve prescribed company, customer and operation objectives
  • Manages and effectively develop management team through performance development process
  • Manages all DC Key Performance Indicators
  • Teach and train teams toward continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for improvement and guiding change
  • Hold leadership team & teammates accountable to performance standards
  • Manage all aspects of performance and development of direct reports to encourage professional growth
  • Support and model excellent service by exhibiting a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward the job and the company to both internal and external customers in all forms of communication
  • Ability to interact effectively at multiple levels; demonstrated effective on the floor listening and follow-up; self-confidence; strong relationship building skills
  • Responsible for the training, coaching and feedback of hourly teammates, and performs regular evaluations of teammates through factual data and subjective observations
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, and retain effective shift management teams
  • In conjunction with HR, develop, implement, and measure effectiveness of new teammate training programs
  • Possess a complete understanding and partner with other facility leaders, including Industrial Engineers, to drive and build best practices (SOPs)
  • Ensure implementation and execution of policies and practices throughout the facility
  • Collaborate with various corporate departments and field leadership to maintain awareness of customer needs
  • Responsible for ensuring all activities concerned with the distribution of products are being delivered accurately and timely to customers
  • Work closely with other management to ensure processes and procedures to support strategic direction is followed
  • Implement strategic changes in the facility center operations
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of all necessary reports and records regarding department operations including Daily/weekly/monthly workforce forecasting in order to meet budgetary/volume/customer needs
  • Evaluates and analyzes current work methods and recommends ways to eliminate inefficiencies
  • Investigates operational errors to determine the cause and recommends corrective action where needed
  • Drives Results: Maintains inventory accuracy and control; reviews reports & identify area of improvement for key metrics including productivity, accuracy, quality and expenses
  • Business Planning: Coordinates and monitors operations with the functional area to ensure performance production rates are consistent with business plan and pattern, reducing irregularities and damages
  • Reviews reports and business metrics to analyze and plan staffing needs for optimum department operations
  • Daily balancing of labor availability and volume requirements throughout the facility

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) & ERP systems
  • Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance (Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations )
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of business, finance and management principles
  • Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
  • Solid reading, written, and verbal language skills (English)
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, management, or similar. OR At least 5 years of experience with 100+ associares in the logistics warehouse, inventory field, plus demonstrated management qualifications
  • Ability to move and/or lift up to 65 lbs; heavier product with team assist
  • Ability to travel as needed for short periods of time to support network needs
